Default More fun with Rockfish

I haven't mastered these fish yet but I'm getting better and this is definitely the most fun I've EVER had fishing in Tennessee. I managed only one fish but it was a 31 incher. Got it on a pearl super fluke on a 1/2 oz jighead.

Not too long before I hooked this one I saw a huge blowup. I threw to it first with a topwater and didn't even get a sniff. Merv followed it up by tossing a weighted fluke and caught a 27 pounder! I was joking with him saying he stole my fish haha. I really want to land a 20 pounder from the yak. I'm very determined and I WILL accomplish this!

HA! I had that on to stay dry from the rain that never showed up. And yes, I always have my PFD.

Nice one man! I saw that on Facebook on one of Bryan's posts. My biggest one was 34" and I was guessing about 15 pounds but a friend also caught a 34" one he claimed weighed 19 pounds so maybe my guess was light. I'll never know but I know it didn't break the 20 mark and that's my goal.

Here ya go, jimmy:

http://www.stripers247.com/striped-b...ight-chart.php

Pretty good chart to estimate weight...freshwater fish tend to range a bit over average, especially as they fatten up over winter at the GSP. I'll attach a pic from last year of a fat GSP striper.

Dude that thing is fat as crap. Mine did cough up about an 8" shad during the fight. Had that not happened, it might have broke the 10 pound mark haha.

I used that chart to guess my 34 incher at 15 pounds. It wasn't very fat but the minimum is 14 pounds according to that chart and mine wasn't anorexic either. Odd that it shows a minimum of 11 pounds for a 31" fish but Merv weighed it twice on his scale and it gave the exact same reading of 9.81 pounds.

I also used his Boga and of course you can't get a precision reading but it did show between 9.5 and 10 pounds. I checked the stomach of this one, not a thing in it so maybe if it had eaten a big breakfast before I hooked it it would have been 10-12 pounds.
