Default Last week

Sorry on the late reports, been busy entertaining some family and friends from out of state. I fished all last week, including early in the week even with the rain. I've been focusing on one area in particular, the west fork boat ramp, because there has been an abundance of bait. Early in the week, fishing was on fire while the rain was still moving through the area. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday fishing was like shooting fish in a barrel. Monday I had 8 catfish, 2 largemouth, and 12 bream/bluegill. Catfish and bass were all caught on live shad, and the bream/gills were all on mealworm TM under a float. Tuesday was even better with 15 catfish (most were 1.5 to 2 lb channel cats) but I did get a nice 8 pound blue cat. Also managed a 7 pound drum, and 3 largemouth all 2 pounds. Wednesday was all catfish. Ended up with 13, most were two pounders but 2 were in the 4 to 5 pound range. As the water level was rising, fishing was on fire. After the rain, and as the water level dropped, fishing slowed. Water clarity wasn't as bad at West Fork as it was at fate sanders/ Stewarts creek. The last 3 days the wind has made fishing from the bank a little difficult. One of my favorite parts of the week was how I was getting my shad. The water had come up into the parking lot and as it dropped back it left a small pond in the parking lot, and it was STUFFED with shad. I must've caught 40 shad from 2 to 5 inches on every throw, and people were looking at me like I was a mad man throwing my cast net into this puddle in the parking lot. Hoping for some similar success this upcoming week!

I will admit it would have been funny watching someone throw a cast net into a little puddle in the middle of the parking lot, nice fish.

Yup, too bad you didn't have anyone there to film you throwing a castnet into a mud puddle!

Would have made a great "ANYBODY CAN CATCH BAIT!" shot.
