Default Old Hickory 9/12/14

I was riding around when bait started blowing up all around me. It didn't look like the fishing chasing it were very big, but I couldn't tell. Looked down at my Humminbird and saw this:

Any idea what it could be?

Thats quite a pod of bait and chasers right behind them!
sweet screen shots!

maybe it was a cloud of minnows being chased by a school of shad?

Could be white and yellow bass. Its that time of year and the shad are so small they are perfect buffet meals for schooling fish like the white and yellow bass. Were you on the edge of the main channel or a major creek channel?

It's another batch of young fry bait shad and the white and yellow bass with large mouth and catfish mix in feeding on them. Small white rooster tail spinner bait will help you catch them and top water baits when their braking water. Best time for top water baits is early in the morning when their braking. I'm going back out in the morning early for more fun...........woody
