Default Cumberland river - Nashville - 07/14/2014

I hit the river for about 2 hours yesterday morning. It was hot and i was a bit hungover....

I caught about 10 fish in this time, floating a 500 yd stretch or so.
I caught a couple small spots on topwater, then switched to a crankbait.

I hooked into a big drum, and got him up to the boat, then he turned and dove, and when i turned him back and got him up it was a 17.25" smallmouth. so weird. i have a vid. what do yall think?

Very interesting, looks like the smallmouth stole it from the drum when the drum made the dive.

That is very cool
Drum probably pulled off and the smally was following and nailed it.
Great fish story either way.

If alcohol can cause one to see pink elephants I see no reason why it can't make a smally look like a drum on first glance.

great video!
Love the hookset, hammered it good!
Nothing strange about the drum/smallmouth...i dont know how many times i have a crappie splashing on the surface and i swear its 16", till i get it in the boat and the sun dries it out to a mere 13" almost instantly!

Nice fish either way....i love fishing the river!

Like I said, you traded up from a trash fish to a pretty fish. How pissed would you have been if you knew you had a nice Smallie and then wound up with a Drum??

I don't think it's alcohol that made you see pink elephants. Not alcohol alone, anyway.
