OH spotted bass 7/10/14

Started fishing rock points and humps with a buddy from work without much luck. Decided to move on when I saw these.



Caught four spots on the first four casts. Ended up catching 8 from that school. When the bite slowed I drove around to see if they moved. Found them again and placed a drop pin.



The drop pin was about 20 yards out of our original casting range. Set back up on them and caught 5 more. This was all in about 45 minutes. They are some fun fish to catch.

I have been catching them lately on rocks and ledges. It was weird finding them on a soft flat bottom.

That is awesome, I watched a video of a guy last night do that. he Drove around found fish on side imaging and then proceeded to catch fish at will. You have to be paying attention, I think it would be easy to miss those dots while driving around.

I almost did miss them. Just happened to look down. I have some good shots of them on rocks but this was my first on a smooth bottom.

To be honest I wasn't sure if they were fish or not.

Nice shots....congrats on your catch. juice....once you use the si for a while you don't miss much. You learn real quick what you are looking at with just a glance. I have spent the last four months learning bluegill habits on different lakes with different type bottoms. When using si you have to be moving...and you do if you want a good pic of the lay of the bottom and structure. But knowing how Doppler shift works I knew that if I was sitting still and fish swam through my si beam there would be a Doppler shift and those fish would show up. Well today I tested out my theory.....paddled out to the deep water at Laurel Hill and just sat there. Wasn't long and here they came......a big school of Gills. nailman...good job staying on those fish...it is not easy to follow the school sometimes...and in a kayak you can lose contact quick and wear yourself out....LOL. But that is the good thing about si...the area of coverage is so wide you cruise around a little and find some more.
