Can't recommend a service location, but the backfire, if that is what it is, sounds like it the carb(s) are out of adjustment, or are dirty and need cleaning. Have you checked the gas line bulb, does it stay hard/firm after you pump it up? If the bulb goes soft after you run it for a bit, then you may have an air leak in the gas line/bulb, check all the connections and make sure their are tight. Can try a can of seafoam in the gas, if the carbs are a just a little dirty, seafoam can clean this up, if they are really dirty, well, its best to do a rebuild on 'em. The fuel filter may be clogged as well, if it has one. When was the last time you had it serviced or did any maint on it. Post up the yr/make and size of the motor and maybe someone can point you in the right direction.

Pull a couple spark plugs and see if the have carboned up.

Also Most back fires come from extra air entering like an intake leak ect
On a auto/truck engine that's what it leads to

Good luck!
