Default Old Hickory report from this weekend

Not as active this weekend for me like it was last weekend. In two mornings I probably caught about 10 fish. Throwing top water frog in the grass and deep cranking. Also got into a few fish in the jumps using Rapala Skitter prop bait which I love. No big bass, but always fun fishing that way. Also was fishing brush piles for Crappie and it ended up with a few white bass and yellow bass. Best catch of the day was I caught someones Alabama rig. Got hung up with my deep crank bait and I used my lure retriever and up come Alabama rig still in great shape maybe been there a few days the way it looked. if You are fishing deep crankbaits do yourself a favor and buy a lure retriever. This was the biggest of the weekend 2.4 pounds just shy of 17 inches when they've eaten this frog they have really wanted it.

I did a similar thing on Friday afternoon. I was deep cranking and got hung. Took out my lure retriever and pulled up the crank bait. It was not my crank bait though. It was a brand new Norman DD 22. It looked like it had just come out of the package. Then I was able to get my crank bait back also. That lure retriever has paid for itself many times over.

You could pull a stump off the bottom with that 50 LB power pro!

I have a retractable pole. It extends out to 20 feet. On the end of it, there is a "coil" to wrap around your line so you can go right down to the lure and knock it free.

This isn't the one I have but it is like it: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shop...product/37104/

+1 on the lure retriever. I think I only had 1 crank I couldn't get back since loosing the retriever and that is because I got the retriever hung so bad the line broke.

Blink, I use the one from Bass Pro Shops
http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shop...product/44428/

and I just got this one a few months ago, but haven't used it

From the looks of it I don't know how I will like it.

For my line management I use a 5" piece of 3/4 PVC, it also give me something to grip and pull with.
