Default Fishing for Hybrids on JPP
Went to JPP on Sunday afternoon to fish for hybrids. Created a video with GoPro and uploaded to YouTube. The link is:

Some of the video has a green cast to it (must have been something I did wrong with the camera).

Total for the afternoon was nine hybrids (ten pounds was largest), one Rockfish, two channel cats, one drum, and a bunch of white bass.

Nice fish sir, that's a nice way to spend the afternoon. I was out there bass fishing the weather was fantastic. You fish upper, mid, or lower end?

Way to go aero! Looks like you had a good day out there! How big are those weights you're using for your down lines?

Alex, they are a couple of ounces. I have six down rods with live shad that like to swim together. The heavy sinkers keep them from tangling. The boat is moving at 1.0 mph and the heavier weights keep the baits down better.

That's an awesome video! I'm anxious to figure out these fish this time of year when they're deep. I've only been able to catch them in April when they're shallow and very active. I'm always in my kayak but no stranger to trolling from it. I thought you said you had shad but in the video it showed paddletail jigs, were you using some of both?

I was marking some schools in 20 feet of water the other day at Hamilton Creek that I think were Hybrids. I trolled over with a deep diving crank and lost it

I may give this a shot next time I'm out. Double rigged 1/4oz jigheads with paddletail grubs? I use 10lb mono with a 20lb flouro leader so I should be set. Will you tell me what kind of paddletails you were using? I'll go pick some up this week.
