Default Lake chickamauga friday and saturday

I prefished for the state tournament on friday. It was a tough day, we only got 3 each. I had two keepers, a 14.5 inch spot and a 13 inch spot. Missed a ton of fish. Went through a bag of jig trailers. I caught my fish with a yank em 3/4 ounce gorilla jig in black and blue. I used a 5" paca craw as a trailer just to get the claws showing. We marked a ton of fish and I couldn't get them to bite anything. I even lost a rod. I went down to get a snag and dropped it into the water. The current was moving so fast that it apparently swept it away. I went back to fish that spot the next day and I could see a bunch of old trotline hung up. I hoped that saturday would be better.

I got up at 3:00 am to get ready. The weather said it would be cloudy all day, so I started to get excited. When the sun came up, I was really surprised. I loaded everything up in the boat and launched at 4:30. We idled the 2 miles to bluewater campground and waited an hour. During that hour, it killed me to not take a cast. We left to go to our best spot where we got most of our bites. I fished a black buzzbait, a punisher flame jr. spinnerbait, a 3/4 ounce yank em jig, and a 6xd. Not a bite. Went to probably 15 other spots until I caught a short fish on a Go 2 Baits shaky head. We went back to the dock and I fished around the other boat docks around the launch. I finally got a keeper on a kvd 1.5 squarebill. I didn't even bring it up because it was so close to being a keeper. If their board had been off just a little I would have had a short fish penalty with only one fish. The fish looked like it had been caught 100 times and then just spawned. Holes all in his head, throat, and mouth. I am sure it has been weighed in quite a few times. One part of his shredded tail touched the 15 inch mark, but not most the tail. Winner had 12 pounds, a bad day for lake chickamauga.
