Default Why I fish alone

So yesterday, my wife agreed to come along with me for her annual "fish with hubby day", she even got up at 4 with me. I started out fishing the Clarksville marina lagoon (where they have a public restroom, btw), hoping that some of the bass released by the state championship tournament anglers last weekend were still hanging around. Caught a few decent ones, nothing big like I was hoping for though. After about an hour, the bite was slowing and lots of folks were showing up (the soldiers on Ft Campbell were off yesterday) so I told my wife we were going to run down river so I could fish some rocks I'm fond of fishing, while they were still in the shade.

(Again, mind you, there is a nice public restroom located at the marina). Turned on the big motor, ran downstream a few miles, dropped the trolling motor, picked up my rod to start fishing and my wife announced she had to go to the bathroom . So I ran back upriver and into the marina and as I was tying up to the dock, a guy that was just putting in said, "you're quitting kind of early, aren't you?" I rolled my eyes at my wife and told him that someone needed a bathroom break...he cracked up.

I forgot my camera yesterday so no pics but I didn't catch a whole lot worth taking pics of anyway. The bite slowed down as soon as the sun hit the water. One thing...there was absolutely no current to speak of, which is a first for me. They must have had all the dams shut off yesterday morning because once I got onto the main river, I had to use my trolling motor to move downstream where usually, the current moves me down the bank.

We're driving up to Burlington, KY next Saturday to pick up my new fishing partner, a really cute redhead. If she has to use the bathroom while we are out there, at least I can pull up to the shore and let her into the woods and as long as she doesn't see any rabbits or squirrels, I'll be ok The attached pic is from the day before she got her ears cropped.

I used to keep one of these in my small airplane for those times that my better half just "had to go!"

This was much better than having to land well short of the destination.
You could keep it in the boat just for her.

Thanks Mike. I love Dobies but due to us living overseas for so long and me being in the Air Force before I retired (moving around a lot), we never felt the time was right for one. But now that we are in the states and settled down with a house and a fenced in back yard, like Mike Buffer says on UFC, "It's time!" LOL. We've been checking out breeders for at least a year; she comes from champion parents and this breeder breeds both for show and family pets, and a family pet is what we want. Dobies are super intelligent and loyal beyond a fault, and I am super excited about bringing this little girl home next Saturday (if the healing of her ears goes well). I have a sneaky suspicion that with a face and eyes like that, she's going to be spoiled rotten in no time, by yours truly LOL.

Being a guide on the river for many years ... I found a milk pale or 5 gallon bucket or even sometimes a coke bottle will suffice ... Uummm I am referring to the amount of storage room you have on your vessel of coarse ...
