Had a great day of fishing yesterday. I worked until 10:45, brought the boat to work and was on the water by about 12:30. I was up in the pond area of the Caney. They had no water moving at all. It was the lowest I have ever seen it and crystal clear water. So I just started out by driving the area. I went to many of my favorite spots to catch fish, and it was neat to see why they were good spots. And every spot I like in the pond area, had a clear indicator why there were fish there. Very cool. I found an area where it was shallow all around it, but about a 30' by 20' area where i couldn't see bottom in the middle of the shallow area. I tossed a TM in there and it never made it to the bottom. I anchored right there and for the next 3 hours caught or missed a fish just about every cast. I caught 50 or more crappie, most in the 8-9", but several over 10, including a few over 12". 50 or more bluegill. 5 stripers 12-14", 7 white bass 13-14", 2 drum, about 20 skipjack and 3 rainbows, one stocker and 2 at 14 1/2". Also broke off on a bow that was in the 16-17" range. It jumped and my line snapped, due to me not retying at all.
Then at 4:00 they kicked the generator on, I headed over to the boils. I managed about 10 more skipjack, and an 18" brown. I didn't get a pic of the brown due to the current and being alone. Then the bite died and i started to head down river. Managed 2 14" browns and a nice fat 22 7/8" brown. Missed a few other great hits.
Had a lot of fun. Its good to just get out all alone sometimes and catch fish
