Default JPP Monday 4/21

It was a great day for pre-spawn on Priest today.
Basically I fished all my traditional spots but stayed in line with where the water line was during lowest of winter pool. Anything inside of this was not the quality and size fish I knew were ready to move up. I caught all on KVD jerk bait in sexy shad color. They seemed to not mind if I worked it fast or slow. Toward the end of the day I caught several hybrids when they started busting the surface but mostly I caught Largemouth. In addition to the hybrids I did manage a couple of smallies and one very nice catfish. If you look in the pic, the catfish worked my bait over so hard in the struggle that she was able to separate the middle treble hook from the lure. Thank goodness it was still in her jaw along with the one she hadn't separated. I would have probably gotten on the bank and hid behind a tree if I lost the fish because both treble hooks were yanked off the lure. I will say that I was glad that I up sized on my lure. I have been losing a lot of fish because with the smaller lures, I really couldn't get a good hook set if the fish was too big because of the hardness of the mouth. I could go on for longer but I don't want to ramble. I'm trying to post some of the picture and I am having trouble. I'll keep trying but if it doesn't work, this computer may become structure in Suggs Creek.

That smallie is pretty! What was the water temp if you don't mind me asking?

Hey Isaac, I apologize but my temp gauge is broken and I just have no idea. All indicators of above 60 degrees were there. What I mean by that is lots of bait being chased and lots of surface activity. The smallie actually gave herself up by busting topwater right before I was casting so I just sent it to her and she had to have it.

Good report alpha. Glad you got into a bunch and had fun.

And yup, Priest is hot with this weather pattern now. So is Hickory

We had 68 crappie yesterday and over 50 whites and hybrids, but I was on the opposite end of the lake than you. Water temps were showing 64-65 degrees.

Fate Sanders area was 72 degrees on and Sunday and saw 75 in the backs of couple coves.
