Default Cumberland River (Clarksville area) 4/18/2014

My buddy Tom and I went out yesterday morning in his boat and it was Tom's day to shine. He started out with a spinnerbait and immediately started catching fish while I sat there wondering why yesterday was the day I did NOT bring any spinnerbaits along. So I was mainly concentrating on trying to find and catch striper and/or white bass. We fished the Liberty Park Marina, a section of the Cumberland near the marina and then headed up the Red River to explore and fish it.
Water temps in the marina and main river were 60 and 58 in the Red River and the water level had dropped almost 2 feet from the day before. Every (decent) bass caught was caught with a spinnerbait, close to rip rap or some type of rocks. Once we got near the Wilma Rudolph bridge on the Red, the current was super fast and we had no bites at all. We did discover that there's a sizeable congregation of homeless folks living under both sides of that bridge though, complete with tents, clotheslines, chairs and camp fires.
For whatever reason, the fish weren't interest in crankbaits, plastics or anything else we threw. I spent a lot of time throwing that swimbait and a blue fox silver inline spinner; caught a few small white bass but couldn't locate the bigger ones. Here are a couple of pics with a bonus heron thrown in

Great quality photos. You got on the water without a spinnerbait, that is a cardinal sin. Shame on you.

Yes I know. Even my dog wouldn't look at me when I got home

Well thank you, sir. MNfisher has helped me a lot with photography tips and advice (and has shown a lot of patience as I was PM'ing him a lot LOL).
