Default Long Hunter-Couchville Ramp

Who would be the governing body that maintanes the ramp/parking lot area at Long Hunter? Would that still be the Corps, or would that now be the Parks Dept? That is where i do 99% of my launching simply for distance and convenience but man, you need to be a skilled driver to avoid all the bumps and pot-holes to avoid beating your boat and trailer into a pile of rubble? Ive only been launching there for a year, but have fished there for 5-6 years and its been that way since i can remember. i would think that with the traffic that ramp gets and its prime location, they would pay a little more attention to it. I dont ramp hop alot, but i personally havent been to a worse ramp yet on JPP.
has anybody else addressed this issue with the proper people in the past or is it just like beating a dead horse?

The Corps usually owns a certain amount of feet up from the water on their lakes but having said that I am still not sure since its also a state park. I know the newest ramp on the Caney down near Gordonsville was a joint effort by the city of Gordonsville and TWRA.

thats by far the worst ramp i have used on JPP so i was curious if its repairs are on somebodies "to-do" list already and they are just waiting on funding or if its a squeaky wheel gets the grease kinda thing.
I can squeak pretty loud if thats what it takes to get the ramp back into decent shape. Well the ramp is fine, but all the blacktop around the ramp is horrific.

You will want the cold patch product and tamp it down.

Just an update for anybody who might be interested...
Doug M. told me that its the Corps ramp, so i sent them an email this morning. He also told me of an organization (friends of long hunter) that i might contact as well. So i sent them an email as well.
Hopefully between the 2, somebody will reply back with some kind of response. I dont have high hopes, but if ya dont ask, your not gonna know.

I might end up going the "XxthejuicexX" route and picking up a bag or 2 of some patch and doing a hack job myself. LOL

That could be a good route. Just be careful it isn't considered damaging government property since the Corps does own it even though you're trying to improve it.

Luckily, the government has our best interest and safety in mind, which is why that lot doesnt have a single light, or camera on it. i shall never be seen!!!!! muah ha ha ha ha!!!!!!
in reality, im not going to do anything aside from constant complaints to the right people till i either get threatened with death or they fix it.
i guess i could change ramps, but when you fish 99% of the time within 300 yards of the ramp, it doesnt make sense to have to find a new ramp farther away (gas) then have to drive the boat all the way back (even more gas)
But if thats what i gotta do, thats what i will do. i would just figure they would keep a little better care of that location being in a park and all.
either way i guess! it is what it is.

The Corps office just replied to my email saying that ramp at Long Hunter is operated and maintained by Tennessee State Parks. The office number is 615-885-2422.
I agree, we spend enough money in taxes to have a few thousand designated to some blacktop work at the boat ramp area.
I really wish they would bring back thier Fee system they had a few years ago. yearly pass for X amount or daily for X amount. people would understand the need for some small fee's to keep the park system and ammenaties in good working order.
SQUEAK SQUEAK!!!
