well 2nd time was the charm. I got in the woods at 525am. I set up the decoys and then found a nice spot to look over two fields split by a creek on one side and the duck river boarders the edges of the property I was on. it was real quite at first then I heard two birds far off across the duck. so I just sat there listening to them gobble and waited in silence. after about 15 mins I heard a few hens real close. then the sound I was waiting on a gobble with in 200 yds or so. I called back and instantly he gobbled back. then I just sat around waiting to see what would happen. not long after three birds flew down in the field I had the decoys set-up. as soon as the tom hit the ground he went into full strut. the other two birds where hens. to be honest I was kinda surprised to see the tom. he never gobbled. he strutted around for about two mins then walked into my decoys. I let him have it from 36yds out I couldn't wait any longer. he was 21lbs has a 9.75inch beard and .75inch spurs. this place also has a nice pond I normally fish. but I figured the day was already great. soo I headed home to spend time with the family.
