Default Fishing the past 3 days

Day 1, Friday
I fished my usual spot and got skunked. I moved to a spot that I knew I could catch something. When I got there I saw a guy from last year. He said he was catching a bluegill every once in a while using a small curly tail grub. I started fishing and immediately started catching bluegill of all sizes on bison trout magnets twitched. After about 20 I gave him some bison magnets and he started catching them too. I moved down a bit and found a school of bluegill bigger that 8 inches. He moved down and we both caught 20 big ones and they all went on his stringer. After we caught the big ones I moved down some more and caught 3 keeper crappie and he caught 1 all on the bison tm. He caught a 16 inch white bass and I caught 3 yellows. I also caught 5 small 8-10 inch bass too. My brother caught a 15.5 inch largmouth on a crappie magnet and it swallowed the hook so it went on mr. ed's stringer. Before I left he said he was going to have to order some trout magnets. He wanted to know what color jigheads to get and I recomended black.

Day 2, Saturday
This was probably the best day! I had 6 keeper crappie and I kept 4. All the fish were jet black or so full of eggs they looked like they were going to pop. They put up a huge fight on 2 pound test. I also caught 2 huge 16 inch white bass, around 100 smaller bluegill, 15 bigger bluegill, and a huge yellow. They would only hit a bison trout magnet twitched slowly.I tried crappie magnets of all colors but they wouldn't touch it. There was no one in sight and I had the whole place to myself. It was cold, rainy, and miserable but it was still fun. My brother didn't come with me because he was turkey hunting and he found a huge shed.

Day 3, Sunday
I got to go out after church. I got there about 3. I stayed until dark. I didn't catch any crappie at all. I caught 100 smaller bluegill (under 8 inches) and 12 big bluegill (over 8 inches). I had one huge white bass that was 17 inches and 3 huge yellows about 10-11 inches. I also had a bunch of smaller 8-12 inch bass and one 13 inch spotted bass. I attached a pic of the spot. All on the bison trout magnet twitched. Zero fish on crappie magnets. Water was a lot clearer, probably 4 foot of visibility. No one else ever showed up and I had the whole place to myself again.

Saturday was the best, Friday is following that, and Sunday was the worst. And I had a bite every cast sunday!

Great report.

I'm new to fishing the TM. When you say twitched slowly, are you talking the speed of your retrieve, the frequency of your twitches, or both?

The speed of the retrieve. When you slow the frequency down, the trout magnet jigs more that twitches.

Default Bluegill

Interesting. Are you catching the bluegill shallow or deeper. Never really try those until later in May/June, but a hundred for the skillet does sound nice!

Thanks for the report,Issac. I was out there Fri. afternoon in Stewarts and Spring creeks and didn't do much good at all. Glad you did good. I should have gone Sat., but I wasn't tough enough to fish in the rain!

These were shallower but the water warms up super fast after a rain where I was fishing. I would have to say the deepest water in the spot is 6 foot.
