Default cumberland river/stones river

Purchased a new rod this afternoon from academy so ofcourse i had to test it out asap. Went to the stones river with some 1/8th oz jigs and bobby garlands. Water was really low but made it really easy to move up and down the bank. Fished about 1-1/2 hours. Ended up with 8 chunky whites, 4 spots of decent size and 1 drum. The whites werent the big big whites ive caught at the dam, but they were decent size.
Moved to the mouth just before dark and found a small mixed school of saugers and walleyes. Caught a total of 6. no size to any of them.....biggest was about 14", smallest was 8-9". Had to cast out in the main river right on the current seams but they hit hard just flicking it off bottom and let the current carry it along. Quite a bit of surface activity right at dark too.
Not a bad "breaking in" for the new Diawa rod.
Gonna be a tough call for this weekend with the boat: jpp crappies or river whites!

Yeah it was, not as many white bass as i would have hoped for, but i guess with the lack of current, they were schooled up in the main channel someplace just waiting to make thier move.
