Default Woods Crappie this morning

Got over to Woods at daylight before the wind. Fished in the rain and took home a limit of crappie with some good slabs. Today's catch would have won the crappie tournament for me last weekend. Testing Hitek rod holders set up in spider rig fashion. Crappie Magnets easily beat minnows this morning! Stopped by Normandy Dam and caught some trout. Could not get a bite below the dam with TMs.

So many fish, So little time!

Aero,
I was at Normandy and spoke to you as you were leaving. The bite was really slow. I only caught 2 stockers and 1-12" bass. Congrats on the crappie from Woods!

I have thought about fishing woods but I have a question for you guys. Does it bother you that they have a warning for PCB's in the water and that you should not eat catfish? I know you guys are crappie fishing but it seems that the lake is not that clean.

Yes it bothers me.....somewhat. I have caught....and consumed a ton of crappie out of Nickajack. There is a "precautionary advisory" for catfish about PCB. So it says certain people should not eat the catfish but if you are not in that category it is OK to consume. The advisory at Woods is don't eat catfish at all. I have fished at Woods and never kept anything. The problem I have with Woods is what the lake was used for a lot of years. Having had two tours at Redstone Arsenal I became very familiar with what happens on military bodies of waters. There were many great lakes on Redstone and I fished all of them but I never kept a single fish from there. I guess I trust the TWRA advisories as I do eat the fish from Nickajack. I guess we either trust the advisories or not......but at one time Woods was no place to be eating fish out of....but apparently it was cleaned up.

Regards
