Default Old Hickory crappie 3/20/14

Fished from 4:30-6:30ish and caught 9, all keepers. Missed several others because the bites were very subtle. Still fishing around 30 fow with tuffies, but the water is warming up (about 51) and I'm not catching as many as the last few weeks. Still catching some big ones. The biggest was just under 15" and 4 were 13"-14".

Awesome that everyone is catching crappie! The recent rains/winds and my work schedule have kept me off the water for several weeks. Hope to be able to get out one day next week.

What size weight are you using fishing that deep, I've been using 1/2 oz in 16 to 20 fow. I was going to spider rig on the lower part of OH tomorrow morning. Will probably be around the lock 3 area. My son is out today with his son (4), he's going to fish minnows around cover in Bledsoe, wish I was out there with him.

1/2 - 2 oz depending on my speed. The faster I go the heavier the weight. With the wind we have had it's hard to fish slow so I typically use a 1 oz.

Got out for a little bit Sunday (spider rigging), the wind had my rods bouncing to a point there is no way I could have known if I had a bite. The sock (36") did a great job of holding the boat (17 feet)at a slow speed, only had to use the trolling motor to stay in the 30 fow range and follow the edge of the drop off. Caught one drum, almost pulled the rod out of the holder. If I had other bites I couldn't see them. I went to get out of the wind but water was less than 10 feet so I started hitting docks, Caught several short fish and two keepers before I left to fish another day.
I saw you had a good evening the other day, I didn't see anyone else spider rigging out there. I may get a chance tomorrow afternoon, depends on how the sales call goes.

Good luck to all,
Ray
