Default Normandy 03/19/2014

Fished 5 hours at Normandy today. Caught around 80 trout.....and missed that many more. Caught one good Spot and about a dozen more in the 8 and 9 inch range. Caught a bunch of 6 inch Gills. The wind was a killer today......kept a bow in my line all day long. The trout were caught on a white Trout Magnet using 2# test SOS line with Seaguar 6X Grand Max fluorocarbon leader. The Spots and Gills were caught with a Bison Trout Magnet on a 6mm tungsten Boogie Ball jig using 2# test NanoFil wit 3# test Phantom fluorocarbon leader. All my crappie spots I fish from the bank are not yet producing and if they were this wind the next week or so would make it rough. Too much wind for me to put kayak in so am very grateful I have Normandy to fish.

Regards

Sounds like you had a fun day out there....except for the wind.

I don't know if I'm going out tomorrow, but definitely going on Friday.

Hoping the water temps get into the mid fifties. If it does, it should be game on! If not, same old same old.

I would go again tomorrow but tied up with appointments. Even though I was only fishing in 10 feet of water the Gills were very pale....the water is still very cold......and the spot I fish has always held small crappie. I didn't catch a one. They are still there.....nowhere for them to go. They just ain't going to move much to hit a jig. But you're right, I had a ball. I love the UL fishing.

Nice going, Alpha. And way to brave that wind. I had planned on going out on Friday but wouldn't you know it, a lady made an illegal left turn in front of my daughter a last week which totaled her car so I'll be spending my time looking for and hopefully buying another car for her. Not exactly the way I had planned on spending my day off, but...

Sounds like a blast, especially with 2 pound line!
