Default Normandy 3-14-2014

I knew the only place I could remotely get out of the wind today would be below Normandy Dam. Glad I went. For a little over 3 hours caught or had a hit on almost every cast. I caught between 75-100 trout. I missed maybe 50 more. Quite a few of them at the 13 inch mark and all of them very fat from the multiple shad kills the past 6 weeks or so. Many of them regurgitating shad as I unhooked them. It took me about 10 minutes to get the right color today...a white Trout Magnet using 2# test line with 2# test fluorocarbon leader and a size B split shot. I used my "JDM" Daiwa Luvias for the first time today along with the Phenix Elixir trout rod. That is one sweet setup. At 2:15 p.m. the bite slowed to almost nothing. Fished for another hour and decided to call it a day. On my way out stopped down river to compare notes with a fly guy and one other spinning guy. Both remarked how fat the trout are there this year and they also noticed the bite stopping a little after two o'clock. I am really grateful Normandy is as close as it is for me. It is just a great place to have a lot of fun up until July. For those on here that do fish Normandy you are going to get into some little footballs there. The box the trout is laying on is just a little short of 11 inches.

Regards

Nice day. I hope to extend my reach past JPP this year and try some of these other waters I see people fishing.

I need to get my rear back up to JPP now that I have a kayak. I fished it several years back with good catches.

Sounds like you had a great day, despite that wind.
