Default Still need help

I moved from Florida 6 months ago . Until now Ive never seen water at 38 degrees. And I have no idea how to catch bass in cold water yet. I usually put in at Bledsoe creek or at Flippers. I need help finding and catching bass on artificial baits. I was doing pretty good when it was warmer. I don't know if they are still there and not biting or what. Please help. Thanks.

If you head to the Steamplant be careful when you go in Creekchannel rocks with a flag on top. Look for the flag and stay well to the right 15 yards or so when heading into the Steamplant area. When you're headed back open area to the right and left are shallow flats.

Mojo, if you can't get to the steam plant and are left with the rest of the lake I 'd focus on bluffs. Soft plastics or live minnows on bluff banks in the winter will produce bass. Typically the ones for me on the main lake are better than those up in creeks in winter.

Mojo - I moved here in 1998 from the Cocoa Florida area. I fished my entire life on Okeechobee and the St. Johns River system, not to mention inshore saltwater. I struggled mightily figuring Old Hickory out. Regardless of water temp there are shallow fish on OH. Find wood, chunk rock, bluff to flat transition areas, south facing banks. Slow roll spinner baits, swim jigs, chatter baits, medium diving crankbaits, jig & pig (black & blue). Contact the bottom and any rocks or wood cover. A couple sunny days and the radiant heat will bring fish into active mode. If you are fishing Bledsoe you are in good water. Run to Barton creek in the next couple of weeks. They will be headed for hard bottom spawning territory.

I have fished OH for the last few years. I usually can at least catch small bass but this year is a lot different with this cold. Typically my goto bait is a jerk bait or shallow crank bait. No bites in the last week or so. There is so many shad dying that all a fish has to do is open their mouth and something is going to fall in it right now. I was creel checked yesterday while on the lake and the guy told me no one was catching much at all on OH. Over the next 2 weeks with the warmer weather the bite will pick up considerably i think. I fish almost everyday since I am retired so give me a PM if you have some questions. Also if you fish tourney there are a few clubs out here to fish in. OHPPBT is a good club with a new person running it. We had issues in years past but that got fixed and now it is a pretty drama free club. We fish OH and PP on Saturdays. Also Heartland Anglers fishes OH and launches out of flippers on Sundays. Not a bad club i fished it in the past.
