Got bored late this afternoon and about 4 pm drove over to check the Duck River below the dam. It was flowing @425. Makes the flow below the dam difficult to float a yak in there for very long. But it sure looked inviting. It was beautiful but turned cool as the sun dropped over the hill.

Got to love Normandy. That place is a God send to me. When the flow gets down to around 200 or less I hit it up quite a bit.

I will go there around 4 or 5 times a year and catch some trout. nice change of pace and relaxing.

Hammy, did you put the yak in the water or you fished from the bank??, I almost stopped by the dam yesterday, but thought the flow would be too much to deal with and put the yak by the bridge at Barton springs at 2 pm fished til dark, two other fellow yakers were there fishing as well, I caught only one Kentucky right at 15 inches and fat!! on a hand tied 1/16 oz jig, lots of fishermen out yesterday at Normandy!

Ts, no, I did not take the yak or even take a rod with me . It was 4 pm by the time I drove out there. I have been sick with crud and was having cabin fever, had to get out of the house. I had been looking at river flow rates on TVA website. Normandy was flowing 425 fairly consistent and I wanted to see what 425 looked like so I could compare it to lessor rates later. 425 is quite a bit of water, calm, but strong flow.

Were you driving a light colored Ford pickup? There was one parked by the bridge.

Just checked TVA ws. http://www.tva.gov/lakes/nod_r.htm This was posted: Normandy will discharge approximately 675 cfs until further notice.

So maybe the 425 is not a true comparison.

Hammy, I was at the bridge on the lake by the Barton Spring boat ramp, there were two other trucks there, I drive a chevy Colorado silvery/tan color, the normal flow from Normandy would be between 200 and 300 cfs
