Default Center Hill 12-27-2013

Only got 2 fish at the Hill today. But it was worth the trip. Both fish fought extremely hard but the one that I am holding with me in the pic took quite a while to net. Both fish were caught on a Purple Redemption Trout Magnet using 2# test line with 2# test fluorocarbon leader. Water was clear and 52 degrees. Fish came off of points in 25 feet of water.

Wow, that second one is a beauty! I've never fished Center Hill, have only driven over it and stopped at the marina on the way to Fall Creek Falls Park and I noticed how crystal clear the water was...have heard and read (maybe on this forum) what a tough lake it can be to fish.

I bet those 2 were fun on 2# line LOL

Nice fish alpha. Beautiful coloring on those bass.

That had to be a battle royal on 2# test!

Congrats!

Yeah Mike....sent you reply last night. Thanks again for the tip......my nephew was just too hard headed to move from where we were. As we were leaving got him to go by there and there was one boat in the area and they had caught about 20 Spots....LOL. I told him next time I pick the location...LOL.

Alpha, was that you at Hurricane, with the guy from Dale Hollow? I was with the two guys wiping down the Triton and Nitro. We fished hard all day, the guide caught about a 30lb drum to start off. He caught a broke back small mouth??? and a chunky spot and that was it. The fish appeared to be suspended and would not hit anything. The guy we were with was catching 4 to 6lb spots earlier in the week. Still had a good time, any day on the water is better than one in the recliner watching TV.

Fishing with my brother can be an adventure. He likes to go up and down the lake a lot plus he fishes real fast which isn't conducive to ultra light fishing. If fish are not biting in one spot he will travel 10 miles to a different spot and then if they aren't hitting there he will travel another 10 miles. By the end of the day he has burnt a tank of gas and you have spent more time running up and down the lake than fishing. He needs a boat like mine where he can't run all over the dang place and then he would catch some fish. He is a great fisherman he just needs to slow down.

Yeah that was me. My nephew used to be a full time guide at the Hollow and also would guide on Center Hill. Tried to get him to go to a couple of creeks that we did well on last week and also creeksmallie had sent me a text of a place to go. But couldn't get him to budge. He has not fished the lake in about 5 years and had a stroke a while back and I think that still affects his thinking. Yeah the fish were suspended. Couldn't even get onto any Gills. While a lot think the only lure I fish with is a Trout Magnet that is not the case. We threw Bandit 300 series.....jigged blade baits right on top of fish......Float'N Fly.......and other cranks and jigs....nothing. But as you say better than being home....by the way.....a couple of nice looking boats you all had. I think my nephew was headed to the Hollow today and I was going to go with him but it takes an old fat man...on blood thinner....a day to warm up after those 70MPH runs in a bass boat....LOL.....and he likes to do a lot of those runs.

Man, I saw the trout mag sticker in your window and thought is that Alpha and then didn't come over and ask. Yeah I am still trying to get warm. We were trying to get some film for my buddy Hugh's fishing show Southern Woods and Waters. We were with Chris Snow, and he has been wearing the Spots out the past two weeks, and I go and nothing, i think i am bad luck. Hopefully your nephew will do good today with the overcast. I hope to go to Dale Hollow here in a few weeks(got me a new floating fly rod yesterday). Sorry missed meeting you. Hopefully will run into you again sometime.
