We fished with Capt Gary Huffman on the Tuna Breath. Gary operates a 26' center console Bay Boat, booking charters out of the King Fish Boat Ramp. On Thursday, we caught approximately 200 fish, mostly trash fish like Jack Cravelles, Lady Fish, etc. We managed to cull approximately 40 good fish including Blue Fish, Mackarel, Flounder, Speckled Trout and Mangrove Snapper.

On Friday, we got into a run of Mackarel and caught approximately 200 fish, culling about 1 out of 2. The mix included Speckled Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Flounder and lots of Mackarel. All of these fish were caught on greenback minnows.

Gary runs an honest guide service, and works hard for the money. We have fished with him for about a year and a half now. I am already looking forward to going back in February.

Do you like the mackerel and bluefish to eat? They've always been a little oily for my taste. I've heard they are good on a smoker but I've never really messed with cooking smoked fish.

The mackerel are good if you bleed them out as soon as you catch them, then get them on ice and eat fresh. Not good if you freeze.

I've never eaten a Bluefish, but plenty of Mackarel. Because they are oily, they make a perfect fish to smoke. I smoked some alongside some snapper from our last trip. The Mackarel were great, while the snapper were too dry.

For the most part, I don't care what I catch down there, I just want to feel the tug.

Great catch! Just smoked some king mackerel about a month ago I liked it that way. Of course Ate on cracker Tabasco and a little lemon juice. Has to be from real lemon though. The captain we had said u can eat the tail which is boney but after fried the fish falls off the bone and eats real well that way.
