Default Bait

It was a crankbait from Japan called an Elfin Cricket. It is about an inch long, clear with a metal strip inside and a small lip. It dives around 3 inches but if you crank extremely slow with rod tip up it runs just under the surface. It has always driven the trout at Caney wild. Unfortunately I only have one left. The rest have fallen prey to the bruiser Browns and Bows. Unfortunately they don't make this lure anymore. I know. I spent days in Japan visiting 10 bait shops scrounging for them.

I caught around 5 browns. Mostly rainbows and brookies. I lost a huge brown that I fought for about two minutes before it threw the lure.

Saturday was one of those once a year days. The fish would come in waves. Five fish nearly in a row, then nothing for 15 mins. Sudenly no matter where I casted, the fish were fighting over it.

The wind was on and off. When it was off, the trout could not resist the injured minnow on top.

The biggest bow came as soon as the lure hit the water. I didn't even have time to close the bail.

Soon after I lost the lure on another big fella'.

Spectacular.

Default Color

Once I lost the clear version I threw a black/white, red. Nothing. Not even a ripple. The dying minnow is key.

I'm as sad as anyone. If you do find some, I'll buy them all. I'll take out a loan!

I don't win... if for some strange reason you can get some from my help then you win.

Believe me I know what it's like to have a favorite bait up and discontinue. Rebel Deep Tiny Wee R's did that to me in 1994-1995 then the Deep Wee R did it the year prior to Rebel's Crank-R (which took its place) came out.

I'd gladly sell all the lures/gear I own to fund a big Deep Tiny Wee R in D9235 (brown craw/orange belly) purchase.
