Default Stones River

Me and the wife put in at the new Heartland boat ramp on Sunday morning. We had a bucket full of minnows intending to catch whatever bit. We ran up the Stones to the Lebanon rd bridge and drifted back fishing laydowns for Crappie. We caught 18 crappie with only 5 being keepers. You had to really pester them to get them to bite. 4 of the 5 keepers came on a 1/16th road runner head with a bubble belly jig, pearl color.
After that we went to where the Stones met the Cumberland and dropped the minnows down. We hit the jackpot there catching a little of everything. Smallmouth, spots, largemouth, drum.......just about everything but Sauger and Walleye.
I knew with the generation schedules for both dams not being ideal that it would be somewhat of a struggle but we managed to have a great day and a good time.

Well that stinks...for me. I fished where stones feeds the Cumberland from 9:30 till 1:30 and nothing. I knew I should have picked up some minnows. This was my first time fishing this area. I plan on going back when the sauger bite picks up.

I spent most of my time paddling around and getting used to my new kayak so it kind of was a successful day to me.

Thanks for the report.
