Default Middle TN Streams Awesome Fall

The fall fishing on the streams has kicked into high gear. This week was probably the last week to wade without waders and Monday morning was a push without them. Monday Charlie and I waded about a 1/2 mile stretch of water I had not fished in a few years and were greeted to some great fishing. 33 fish with 22 being smallies. 16 inches was the biggest landed and a bunch in the 14 inch range. Case Plastics, Jacks worms w/Real Baits 1/16 SwimHook were the artrificial and 4 inch creekminnows live bait of choice. Long cast were the key with the water being almost winter clear. 7 ft All Pro Rods are my favorite in the streams to make those long cast with. Charlie brought a shorter rod and had some line problems in the morning so he used mine till lunch. I believe he will look into the longer rod for casting the artificials and smaller live bait. Fall fishing in the streams is peaking!!!!

Man those are beautiful fish! I love the Smallie action but I would be happy just catching the black perch.

Beautiful color on those fish!! So are the larger bass already moving into the creeks to chase the balls of shad or is it too soon? I figured they would be making their way in that direction and with another week or so of cooler water temps the Fall pattern would be in full effect.

Jimmy this stream is not affected much by fall migration of bait fish. The Streams I am fishing the fish are not bunching up yet in the wintering holes. Now in the lakes the bait is moving to the back and some places I have heard the fall pattern has been on for a few weeks. If I was going to a lake I would concentrate on the mouth and midway back in the creek. Suspended Jerks on these high sky days(like today) worked as slow as you can stand it work great for me on a lake like a Center Hill.
Some of the guys fishing the lakes more can help me with this.

Thanks a lot! Rather than fish my normal areas of Priest this weekend I'll fish the much lower ends toward Stewarts Creek and down into West Fork. If they're not there I'll head even farther into the creeks. Got my weightless flukes and spinnerbaits ready to go. I love Fall fishing!

Man Creek, that sounds like a great day on the water! I am a little jealous. What creeks are you wading around here? I used to hit up a few in the murfreesboro area but never had any luck like that. Jad2T, I might see you on the water this saturday. If I can get all my honey do at the house this week I will be on the water, I have to finish moving furniture and getting the nursery ready. Good luck to anyone who hits the water this week.

I can not name the creeks online that I fish. But all places I guide are with in an hour of Mboro and less. I have witnessed streams depleted of fish for a few years because of overfishing.
Internet not good for naming streams. Discussion been held many times.
The Fishing Hole (old TV show) did a show and named the strean you could see the town in the background and the locals wer not very happy. Tons of pressure was put on a stream that hardly had any pressure at all.

Those that know me and some that I have just met at the gatherings know I am free with info in person but not online.

I have fished Mid TN Streams since I could hold a fishing rod and I do cherish them as treasures.

I was not looking for names, I would not know them anyways. I was wondering about the area of Tennessee. I waded some of the streams here in murfreesboro growing up and caught good fish. We always fished with soft plastics or floating minnows. I could see how giving out locations would kill an area, especially a small creek or stream.

You're a kayaker too right? I'm thinking for sure the Fall pattern is in effect so I think I'll try to put in at the West Fork area. We can meet up and fish together if you want.

I am a kayaker but if I'm going to the lake I will be in the bass boat. I usually fish the stewart creek area but I have not been up to the west fork area in forever. You think the fish are already that far up the river? You have to forgive me I don't get out much for fall fishing, deer hunting usually takes over but since I no longer have my hunting land I am fishing more this fall.

Not sure yet actually where I'll start. Looking at Google Maps I'm thinking the Fall Creek area may be better.

Can anyone give some feedback as to how far up the tributaries into Priest the bass and shad seem to have moved?
