Default Jpp 10/12

Got out early this morning. Wanted to crappie fish but forgot to buy an anchor! Saw balls of baitfish right at sunrise so thick you could probably walk across them. I threw crappie mags at it but came up with nothing.

Fished for hours with no luck then the crankbait started producing. Caught about a 13-14" smallie, 2 largemouth - one 14", one 15", and a 21" flathead. The 15 incher and the flathead are joining me and my wife for dinner. Also missed a few whacks at the crankbait. Beautiful day and a blessing as always to be out there fishing.

Water temps in low 70s, mid70s when I left at noon. I threw a spinnerbait for 2 hours without a bump. I need that water temp to drop another 10 degrees and it's on! Should be anytime now.

I'm about ready to throw a whole drawer full of spinnerbaits in the trash

Thanks for the report. I debated on whether to go out there this morning. Almost did, but opted to stay close to the house and went over to the river (Cumberland, west nashville). Similar results. Caught enough bass to keep things interesting, but it was somewhat slow. I think you're right, a couple more weeks and it should be getting good.
