Hi all,
After seemingly months of non-stop work, I finally got out to fish Old Hickory Lake. Friday, I went out and fished the main channel for catfish. I caught six eaters (2-4lbs) on shad and then went to try for some bass. I fished a rocky bank in a cove just off the main channel and picked up 5 bass with a mix of keepers and dinks on shakyheads. Then I notice a few jumps toward the mouth of the cove and caught 5 more on a spinnerbait. I tried a crankbait in the same area, but the bass wouldn't hit it. Overall, a nice day to get out and great to get some fish to eat.
Saturday, I took my son out for some fun fishing up river from Gallatin. We went from 10:30 to 2. Ended up with about a half dozen bass with most caught on a very slow retrieved shakyhead. A few were on wood, but most on the rocks.
Sunday, we had friends over and made bacon-wrapped catfish on the grill. Delicious!
The rain held off most of the day and I finally got out to fish for an hour just before sunset. This time I started in the back of a creek and threw spinnerbaits at everything as I moved along. Finally got a nice bass
and then switched to a shakyhead to fish the area a little more thoroughly. It paid off as I caught four more with the biggest at 22 inches and about 5.5 lbs. (doesn't look very big in the pic, but it was a good fish)
Fun to get out and seeing the lake. The bass seem to be in a bunch of different patterns at the moment, but they are biting.
Now back to work
