Default I pilot batteries

Been looking at a 80lb thrust I pilot and would like to know what the best option for batteries is? Will slow troll with it so need to get a good 6 to 8 hours out of it.

Thanks,
Ray

I have Optima blue tops with my IPilot 101 thrust. When they go bad I'll just go with Walmart's biggest batteries. You get an 18 month warranty and they hold a charge just as well and half the price.

I upgraded to a I-Pilot 101 from an I-Pilot 80, been using Wal-Marts 29 Deep -Cycles for both units for 7 years, replaced the batteries when I upgraded. No Problems.
BTW, I still have the I-Pilot 80 , interested in a used one ?

When I replaced batteries in the boat, I found the best deal at O-Reilly automotive. They have both deep cycle and marine starting batteries. They are made by the same company that makes the Deka batteries that boat dealers sell.

If any of the forum members haven't fished with an IPilot, you don't know what you are missing!

How much are you asking for it Gary?

The trip I took with Merv ... Was more than enough to impress me to Rethink Minn Kota in the later years ... a great improvement ...

Also WalMart Batteries are made by Johnson controls ... Great Batteries a good Warranty ... When I was guiding I was sponsored by a couple of high $$ battery companies ... They would not hold the light to Walmart Johnson control batteries ... I used 5 batteries on my boat ... All replaced at the same time ... Do not mismatch batteries ... <'TK><

I have the 80lb Minnkota iPilot running on 2 wally world batteries. I've gone all day long with no problems. & I'm hard on them, running them wide open for long periods of time and spot locking for several hours.

I agree for sure, the I-Pilot is absolutely a blessing ! Don't know what I want for it, I upgrade every 2 years or so, then sell for the "fair market price" , but as I told some other members of the site..........before I sell it, I will get it into a MinnKota service center and have it "gone over" , so we know it's right.
I just want to make sure everyone is happy with the "deal".

BTW, this is a GREAT site !! Hope to meet you soon TK .............

Thanks,
Gary

TK, it's probably along the lines of "TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE"!

Except you and SAMBOLIE have probably caught more fish in one season than I have in a decade.

I hope people on this forum realize 90% of what I post is said with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

So there is NO CONFUSION, everyone who is reading this post, I REALLY enjoyed fishing with TK and SAMBOLIE and plan on doing it many times over.
