Default Automatic life jacket discharge

I went to put it on and it was discharged? Did this happen because of heat? Or is there another reason for this to discharge without hitting the water. It is a bass pro brand.

When I owned boats I had those and there were a couple of times that I left them in an enclosed area where condensation would form the button would go off and when I would open up the compartment to get them out they had been activated.....I soon figured that out and left them out in the open air so condensation would never form on them. Condensation will activate them in an enclosed area. I don't know what kind you have but if it is a hydrostatic model it has to go so far underwater to activate....usually 4 or 5 inches. Is yours a hydrostatic model?

Regards

Same thing happened to me about 12 years ago Randy... I left my Pop up (Hi $$$ PFD) under my Center Console in my Guide boat ... Opened it up and this thing was as big as a Raft!! LOL !!! Had to deflate it to get it out ...

Basically what you are dealing with is a Alka Seltser on sterroids !! High humidity or condensate will soften it and release the firing pin to the Co2 cylinder ... I still have these ... And they have not deployed again ... Just keep them in a ventlated dry place !! ... <'TK><

Mine did that in my covered boat with now air circulation. I was told by the manufacture that the humidity did it. I have fished with it in the pouring rain with no problems so far

Humidity with no air movement makes condensation .... <'TK><

That's exactly what they said. I was told I could use it in the rain. I could just not submerge it. I have fished with it in the rain ( More times than I wanted ) with no discharge.

With a hydrostatic it has to be submerged under water between 4 or 5 inches or so to activate. With a hydrostatic model you can fish in the pouring down rain all day and it is fine......if it is not it won't be long before enough water soaks into the button and it activates the cylinder. They cost more but you must fall in the water for them to activate. The ones I had I could only wear them in dry weather....and I can tell you that if you have one of those on and it activates while your sitting in your boat seat fishing, and you're not expecting it it will wake you up....LOL. It should tell you if it is a hydrostatic.

Regards
