Default Motor question

Hello fellow fishermen,
I have a question on my 1986 25 h.p. johnson. It seems to be getting warm. The water pump seems to be pumping fine. However, I can tell the motor should not be that warm. I was told it could be the thermostat. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Eric

thats a good place to start, checking the thermostat (can be done with it removed from motor and put it in boiling water if it opens its good).

In the South with these old 2 stroke motors you don't need a Thermostat ... Take it out and leave it out ... Be careful and not tear the gasket ... If you do I have them ... <'TK><
