Fished below the dam at Pickwick today. Started out on generator side and fished jigs and the River Rocker in the current. Caught a couple there and it was neat to see them hit the River Rocker. The water is clear and the bass would hit it just as you were ready to pull it out of the water. But the fish were long and skinny. Headed over by the lock and had to work about 3 hours for 20 bass but they were good ones and it was top water. I would throw a Pop-R and hit the wall and just twitch it. Loved seeing them blow up on it. Every once in a while would throw a dressed Kastmaster spoon past the end of the wall and skim it back and every so often a bass hanging at the end of the wall would blow up on it. Top water is just an exciting way to catch fish. The white bass are still not there. Even though I caught bass top water they are not in the jumps. The question down there is when and if the jumps will start...and why no white bass. Folks couldn't even catch Skipies today. I plan to go back tomorrow and hang around for the evening bite....hoping to get that 5 pound plus bass and maybe the stripers will show up right before sundown. Water temp is still at 84 degrees. There was a cool breeze there today and it was not hot at all. I have a new camera but have not pulled it out of the bag on the water yet. It is more camera than I need and while it is not a DSLR....it is a bridge camera....it is cumbersome. Makes me have more of an appreciation of the pics MNfisher takes. Maybe will have good reason to use it soon.

I was out on OH around mid lake this past Saturday and the main channel was 72 degrees. Up in the couple bays I checked out it was still only 73-74 at the highest. It's been a funny year on that lake.
Maybe those guys from Cheatam cleaned out Pickwick before getting caught.
You should probably stick to catching every dang fish in the water and leave the photography to Mike.
I do leave the photography to Mike.....I take pictures....what I do can't be called photography....LOL. I am hoping the whites show sooner or later though. Sure like catching them.
I fished Birdsong creek this past weekend and schools of fish were blowing up all around me. I got excited thinking I was finally going to get innto some white bass this year. Not to be as they were all largemouths in the one to two pound range. Lots of fun but I really wanted to get into a nice school of stripes.

I'm with you there. I really enjoy catching whites. Who knows....they are known to travel as much as 55 miles in a day so they could be there tomorrow.

Yeah that is correct.....at least that is what the biologist say. I have read that in many articles and those same articles also said the striper and hybrids will do same. Over the years of fishing for whites it is very common to catch one on every cast and in 2 hours it is over with....they have moved on. They can also show up and hang around at same place for days and weeks.
Nice going Alpha, you had a better day than I had yesterday. I hit the Cumberland and went to all of the spots I've had luck at before but the fish were not in the mood. Talked to a few other folks back at the ramp and they had the same bad luck. Oh and the water temp in the river here at Clarksville is still in the mid 70's as well.
