Default Caney tomorrow.

Headed to the Caney tomorrow. If I don't post tomorrow night, good or bad report, will someone call the Coast Guard and have them check the Gulf of Mexico for me. With all the water that's probably where I would end up. Looks like a great weekend. Good luck to all who are fishing.

Roy.

Good luck, just leaving there. Saw big browns all along the riprap below the gens. Couldn't get them to eat. Caught a 13" brown and a few small rockfish.

No one on the water but me, and people came and went periodically on the steps. You could tell the fish weren't cooperating. No one stayed more than an hour. If the bite is on, the steps usually fill up.

I am already back home, I didnt get the first bite or follow back to the boat. After the 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000 canoe and kayak came by I decided it was time to head home. I will post later tonight about my encounter with Canoe the Caney. Those guys are just whoring out the river. We need to ban together to somehow stop them. I have an idea but it would take about 10 of us to do it. I will post later.

Roy

Wow, they let canoes and kayaks do floats on 11,500 cfs?? Sounds pretty dangerous for even experienced people and we are talking about novices here!!!

Agreed. Floated down on that much current years ago with some friends. My buddies wife and her sister flipped out. We sobered up pretty fast. No one else was there that day but us. Can't imagine unskilled drunks in that current either.

We have all read the sign at the dam showing that 100+ people have died on the caney...wonder how many of those people were patrons of the canoe/kayak rental businesses with shuttle service. I used to live on the ocoee river were they had guided white water trips...dangerous but a lot of fun!
