Default Farm Pond Story

This evening after work headed to a small farm pond close to the house. The rain had just about stopped but was still showering a little. It was perfect conditions as this pond is usually very clear but the rain run off had it colored just enough. I was throwing a 6' black worm and caught a 16' LM on first cast. I was catching 6 to 12 inchers about every 5th cast or so. I hooked a 8' or so bass and was reeling it in when all os a sudden my rod bent and line started stripping MAN was i shocked to see a 6 lb ?? LM running with my line. I had him for maybe 30 seconds when it got off . I reel in the smaller bass still hooked and alive. Even though i didnt land this fish what a thrill and surprize. Wonder what would be a good bait to go after this big boy with. My tackle tonight included a 6 " worm, 3 " rapala , a small jitterbug and a clatter bug, after seeing big boy none of these seemed adequate > any suggestions ?

In the pond by my house, I have caught a 7 pound bass, a 15 pound channel catfish, about a dozen 2-4 pounders, and some crappie all on live minnows. That was in the winter time thought. In the spring I like to throw texas rigged lizards, baby brush hogs, and berkley pit bosses in the corners of the pond. I have caught about 15 this spring on this setup, some close to 5 pounds. In the summer and fall I like spinnerbaits with Colorado blades on them. Also In the fall I like to use 1/4 ounce rooster tails.
