Well this story starts out with yesterday I was vertical edging a sidewalk in the City Cemetary with a weed eater. The string on the weedeater grabbed an old rusty piece of wire and shot it straight into my forehead. It didn't go deep, but went up under my skin and along my skull for about an inch and a half(in the picture, it goes to my finger under the skin!). Off to the emergency room I went. After CT scans to make sure there was no skull or nerve damage, 4 hours later, they numbed it and pulled it out. A good flushing, a tetanus shot and I was on my way. I had 4 different nurses and 3 different PA's come into my room to see the chunk of metal coming out of my head! They thought it was quite amusing and had never seen anything like it.
Metro gave me the day off to rest and heal up. It could have been much worse had it gone into my cheek and up into my eye. The good Lord was watching over me in this one. The result is just a small 1/4" cut. Not even a stitch.
Well because of the day off today, I decided to go fishing. I fished several areas and had not much to show for it. Then I decided to hit another area and I fished it pretty hard, lots of shad flipping all over the place. I finally got that one hit I was waiting for and it was game on!! I ended up running up and down the bank to keep from getting my 10lb test spooled on reel!(I was not expecting at all to catch a fish like this, so I was not prepared at all! 10 lb test is not a good rockfish setup!) Finally after a good 10 minutes, this beast came to me! I made it look like I caught it ice fishing in the pic, because I know there would be some mad people if I posted the real picture because of the area. Sorry about that, I just don't want to tick anybody off. I personally don't like it when people put a different background in their photos, but again, there has been a lot of opinionated fights over giving spots up. So it is what it is!
But due to the long fight on such a nice fish, I quick took a photo and released, didn't get a measurement or weight. But it swam off real nice. But What do you all think it weighed? I am guessing in the 20-30 range, but I could be way off. It has been about a year since I caught a big striper, and I have never caught a big prespawn female in spring.
Anyways, I thank God for that wire in the forehead, because if it wouldn't have happened, I wouldn't have caught this awesome rockfish
