Default Normandy 3-12-2013

Took my first fishing trip since knee replacement. It was a great day.....only caught a couple of dozen stockers but man did I enjoy it. No pics but most trout were 10 to 12 inches. I had 4 trout that were the smallest I have ever caught anywhere. You would have had to stretch the tape to make them 4 inches...almost fingerlings. Had one good walleye on but the hook pulled out. As old sailor noted in an earlier post...the river was really fouled with moss...algae....whatever you want to call it....plus lots of trash on top. I used my new microwave guide rod. That thing casts and fishes like a dream. My first cast was coast to coast....LOL. My jig was 4 feet up the bank on the other side of the river. While the river is not wide I have never been able to cast a TM across it. It just gets better now! The knee held up fine. I move a little slow but it works good. Just need to loosen it up some more and get the confidence in it. The trout were not real active...did not see a single fish rise today.

Regards

Good to see you back out fishing! Take it easy on that knee, can't wait to read your reports and see those pics of yours again

Well I'm glad to see you're back at it! Looks like a decrease in Crappie population is imminent.

So glad you got out and wet a line. Did your arm get tired? I noticed the other day while at Caney my legs had gotten out of shape from not wading for around four months. Were you floating the T M or twitching? What color?

Thanks Ed. I was twitching a Bison TM. It was a little tough with the messy water. My legs got tired. Haven't used them too much in a couple of months. But it will come back. To say I'm pumped is putting it mildly. I have one more week of PT...and 3 weeks....one day each week...of Synvisc shots. But I am ready to resume fishing!

Glad to hear you're back out and about Alpha.

Looks like the timing is going to be really good for your season to start. I am going to catch some crappie on Thurs or trout haven't decided yet. Need to check my crappie hole...it's time.

Thumbs up

Glad to see you had a productive first day back. I will take couple of dozen trout any day. Same here with the micro guides. Fished the Caney and JPP Dam this weekend and loved them! Did not pick my spare rod up once. Farthest I have ever casted and very accurate.

You are having Synvisc shots? Replaced knee or the other one?
I remember having those shots before my second replacement..
Love to try crappie fishing with you again someday.

Where can I get the Micro Wave guides? Or did you buy a new rod with them on it?
Sounds like a very innovative product, I'd like to get one.

I picked up one at Dicks Sports for $50. It is a 6'6" light. TecLite by Field & Stream. I am impressed so far, I felt like I could have thrown a kastmaster to the other side of JPP Dam last Sunday.

I just ordered the guides from Jann's Netcraft. But I'll be looking at Dick's, which one, Madison or Nashville. I'd like to have a light or medium light.

Murfreesboro store. They have 5.5' UL up to 6'6" light. Looks like it is going to work great for trout fishin. I believe I will get another for my daughter she still needs all the help she can get for distance.
