Smile Visited an old friend today,The Caney

Decided to take a couple of hours and drive to the Caney and see if there were any trout left over from last year. It was a great day and it was so nice to be on the Caney. I decided to try some new colors which we have at TM and different jig heads.Nothing over the first 15 -30 minutes with new colors.I then went back to the colors I use most of the time and i have the best results.I then caught 20 over the next hour and then I headed to some deep holes I know of to see if I could pull some bigger fish out of them. Over the next two hours I was only able to catch 10.However,5 of them were very nice, drag pulling rainbows. So,in 3 1/2 hours of wading I was able to get 30 in.If the wind had not been so wild,I feel I could have gotten another 5-6 in.Mr Slack kept jumping up and getting my 2 lb. SOS line.
Saw some hawks and I believe a Golden Eagle. Love it.

Nice trip report. I have that same urge to get there on the Caney but don't know if I can drive past Old Hick another time without really fishing it once. Since picking up the fly rod that home away from home has been pushed aside too many times.

Good to see the TM is still catching trout in there. If the generation schedule cooperates, I'm headed there on Thursday equipped with TMs. My plan is to catch 5 to take home, which usually doesn't take too long, then focus only on deep holes and try to pull a larger one out for some nice pictures.

Looks like lately TVA has cut off the generators at 10am and I certainly want to be in the water earlier than that.

Sounds like a good day Ed. For those of you who want to learn to fish the TM under a float....tcintn is the best there is at it for catching trout. If you see him on the river I am sure he will give you some tips if so desired. I want some of those new colors for crappie!
