Default Dupont side of OH dam

Hey guys,
Been awhile since I've posted, but rest assured I attended the Corps meeting and have been spreading the word as much as possible (even though I haven't quite managed to scrape up the funds for a boat yet).

So, question for all you bank fisherman who might have some insight for me:
I live in Mt. Juliet, and I'm wondering if the Dupont side is (or can be) as productive for sauger/walleye as, for instance, the steps area on the Hendersonville side?
If so, is there a general area I would the have the best chance at getting some action . . . close to the lock, closer to the boat ramp?
Not looking for any guarded secrets, but I've been out there a few times recently and can't even muster a bite so any info would be greatly appreciated!

Eric

Drive around to the Hendersonville side and fish the steps

Ha, I have never fished the lock side, but I imagine there are crappie and sauger to be caught in the lock. And as the current from the generators swings to the shore on that side, I would bet you can catch some whites there this time of year.

Thanks for the response Mike ~ I never see anyone on the lock side when I go down there at night so I figured there must be something about the structure or flow on the Hendersonville side that makes it more productive.

Eric, My brother and I fish both sides near the dam. If generation is heavy, we fish the Dupont side. The trick is to down size jigs. I use a 1/8 th oz chrome normally with a minnow. You will find the saugers love this bounced on the bottom close to shore. After sunset seems to be the better time for crappie and sauger. I also use slip floats with bare hook. I have done well on saugers this way. We fish from start of lock, to the boat ramp. Half way between the two, you will notice different rock. This is a good place because of the current change. I found the walleye like that spot. As far as white bass, I have caught them on the Dupont side, but found the Hendersonville side better.

Good Luck,

Eric
