Default Ohd 2/23/13

I went down to the steps area on the Hendersonville side of OHD today. A buddy and I fished for a few hours. Caught one skipjack, 7 nice whites(a few were close to 2 pounds!), and at dusk pulled in a 15 1/2" sauger. First sauger I caught this year is a keeper. Don't know why you guys all catch shorts, 100% of the ones I caught this year have been keepers

Sorry, no pics.

That "steps" area has some huge white bass. I caught two 14 inchers there one morning and I've heard of people catching them up to 17 inches. You should have told me you were going there man, I'm in Gallatin this weekend like 10 min away from there!

I've only fished there once and that's when I caught those two big whites. I caught one on a large white curltail grub bounced on the bottom while trying for a sauger. The other one I caught on a crappie magnet, no float, chartreuse color.

Once you find them, white bass usually aren't too hard to catch.

I usually throw a pearl white or pearl/chartreuse tail slider with a 1/4 or 3/8 jig head depending on current.....I fished around and on down from there today from the boat .....caught about 25....kept 10 @ 2 lbs each.....

Yes, they will still allow bank fishing below their dams.
