Default Steam Plant 2-15

Had to decide between some trying some early season bass fishing or hitting the steam plant and decided to hit the Gallatin Steam Plant area for a few hours yesterday. Wrong choice. It is slow at the steam plant and seems to have been that way all winter in comparisons to winters past. No bait at all in the canal area.

I ended up fishing for small stuff and got one crappie, one tilapia, one drum, one small bass, a few yellows, sunfish and skipjack.

The wind was blowing hard from the north and the current was strong going the opposite way from the generation. I tried to fish the main channel for bass but it was really difficult with the waves and wind.

Oh well, nice to be on the water even if the fishing was slow.

I feel the same way about the steamplant this year. We had a couple cold days, but it didn't stay cold for days which is what we need, oh well maybe next year. The colder it gets and stays that way is what draws the baitfish up, and then the larger fish are soon to follow for an easy meal..
