Smile Information Welcome

My wife and I moved to the Cane Ridge area about a year ago from Murfreesboro where we were for about 2 years. I have been reading a lot of good information on this forum and was wandering what are some of the good waterways to fish in the area? I fished at the Nice Mill dam the other day for the first time and it was decent but it appears to be crowded a lot and one of the older gentleman I spoke with stated that it was always full of people, especially after stocking.

I love to fish for about anything but I grew up on the creeks and streams of east Tennessee catching trout, bass and panfish. My preference is wade fishing but the wife is wanting to get more into it with me this year and we are thinking of getting a canoe and trying float fishing but I am not familiar with this type of fishing so any information regarding that is welcome as well.

I guess more specifically I am looking for water that is readily accessible for when the wife joins in but I am not opposed to wading a distance if the fishing is right.

Thanks for allowing me to join this forum I hope I can contribute something to it as well.

Thanks.

There are plenty of people that float down the stones in the borro. I have not done it. As far as nices mill. I fish there when i just want to catch fish no matter what. Ill park in the upper lot take the trail to the river and wade fish as far as i care to. I'll catch alot of longears and sometimes rock bass but nothing ever if any size.

Sent from my Droid Bionic complete with typos and sarcasm.

You could float down the stones from the dam. They're putting in a new canoe launch/retrieve at the Kohls trailhead of the greenway this weekend and next - should be nice. Could also take out at Heartland as well near the cumberland. The city just purchased a 500 acre farm that is right at the mouth of the stones and cumberland. It will be part of the metro park system with the greenway running through it. I think they will be putting in another launch/retrieve site somewhere in the park at some point too.

Oh no its gonna be fished out now. Lol sorry I had too.

You could float down from nice mill or paddle up stream both places are decent. You could put in along medical center parkway. Or check out Walter hill both up and down stream.

You cant do this now due to the heavy generation but you could wade fish the Caney for trout. You can search back through some of the threads for some good info on that. Also you have the Elk, and Duck River. Also the Stones River below Walter Hill dam is decent for wade fishing.
