Letter sent to Gov. Haslem <'TK><
The following is a letter sent to the Gov. with a copy of a letter sent to Lt. DeLapp from the KY Gov. Sent Br Rick Duty .... <'TK><
Re: Army Corps of Engineers’ pending closure of dam tail-waters.
Dear Governor Haslam,
Unanimously, Tennessee and Kentucky congressional leaders, along with Governor Beshear of Kentucky, have voiced their objections to the Corps’ plan to restrict access to the tail-waters below all 10 dams within the Corps’ Nashville District. As a matter of record, letters, newspaper articles, editorials, and interviews have painted a distinctively clear picture of the civilian authorities’ stand on protecting the economic interests of our travel, tourism, and wildlife related industries. A letter by Governor Beshear is attached.
A great many of your constituents would like to know your position on the matter, and are looking for your support and leadership.
A communiqué from your office to the news media would ad a significant measure of solidarity to the effort to keep this key area of our wildlife resources accessible to all Americans. We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
Rick Duty
