Was at both yesterday, cumberland at carthage water temp 50.5, caney at dam 54.5. Lookin for walleye at cordell no joy. Browns bit good on caney in the rain and wind, had a wonderful thunderstorm at 4 pm. Caught 8 lost a couple more and broke one off. Still super skinny a couple over 24 inches but could not have weighed much. Never seen them like this so long, beginning to wonder if somethings wrong. Several folks were catching bows high up above the the boils, one would lower a net on a rope and net fish then drag it up. Talk about teamwork. All I caught at dam was a nice spot and a large drum (that I thought was a trout ) Several balds spotted today (two paired off) No golden though, man I love to fish. Warm regards

I think the browns are used to being able to feed on shad that are coming through the dam this time of year in their post-spawn. But this year it's just too warm. Last time I checked, Center Hill was still in the mid-50s, which the threadfin can handle just fine. Water temps have got to get down into the 40s before the threadfin get stressed enough to start getting sucked through the dam in large numbers.

Old Sailor, when fishing during generation on this river. Are there certain times of year you are more successful? Also weather conditions cloudy vs. sunny? Thanks in advance!

Just saw your message,was getting ready to post my trip yesterday. I fished monday and yesterday. ( rain both days) My big browns come fall through spring. Bows are a mystery to me.That day in late july when alpha took picture of big bow I caught another that was 8 lbs. Over the next month I probably caught a dozen all 5 to nine lbs, none since. I only fish during generation. Hope this is what you asked. Regards

It does, thank you. Boy that SeaArk must really hold its own. Those were interesting conditions for sure yesterday. Do you happen to know water fallout time at Gordonsville ramp? I fish from 15' canoe with trolling motor and was trying to hit a tomorrow at daylight with my brother when the water is down. I am assuming they may start at 4 am and water reaches that point in roughly 6 hours.

Question about the Caney. I see a lot of guys (in the forum) are fishing in boats up there and I have been there a few times fishing from shore only. Is it safe to put a bass boat on it or is it to shallow?

It would depend on the amount of generation. If they are only running 1 generator i would not run it in a bass boat. Granted 95% of the places you would be fine it is the 5% that will get you especially if you dont know the river. 2 or more generators you should be fine. Of course just like a lake always wear your PFD and kill switch, especially this time of year with the cold water temp and the cold air temp.

A long flipping time...

It takes twice as long to fall as it does to rise and if they cut off at 11pm tonight then that won't get there until after 4am. When the schedules released for tomorrow if its a 4am start it may not fall out completely before rising again.
