Default Target Sauger from a Kayak?

Does anyone ever target sauger from a kayak (specifically on Old Hickory)? I’ve only fished for them out of a boat around the dam …I’m clueless where to fish that is within paddle distance from a ramp. I’m taking off work the week of Christmas, so I’m hoping to get out at least twice. I’m not asking for waypoints, just general location (creeks, depths) where I could target them from my kayak.

I’m looking to complete my fish finder install before I go, this should help target depths.

I wish I could remember what the guy on Doug's morning radio show said this past weekend. Outdoors with Doug Markham, 99.7 fm, Saturday mornings 5am-7am..... shameless plug for a nice guy.

I believe he said that he was catching sauger/walleye's at or near creek mouths along the river and the fish were on the move/feeding pretty good right now. Not 100% though. I am sure if you facebook just drop him a line and he will remember.

I believe it was Adams Guide Service that he was talking too. May try and look them up on FB or the web.

Been wanting to target them from the yak. Got a place picked out, but have yet to go after them. I am couple hours away from Old Hickory so a trip up there is doubtful.

I have mostly, as Travis said, creek mouths all the way to Cordell Hull. All the old guys(like I am now) used to tell me late January and Feb., but I have caught them at the creek mouths at this time of year also, just not as many. Hope you find em while you are off. I am going to try some during Christmas also. Just got my boat back. Ethanol screwed up my carbs so I hope can go, here in a few days.

I have caught good numbers of sauger below Cordell Hull Dam in the spring, in areas that could easily be accessed by kayak. But it was close enough to the dam that the Corps will likely cut off your access before you're able to try it next year.
