Default Transducer cable

Can a broken transducer cable be repaired? I broke my 597 HDdi transducer cable today and had to buy another one. I want to try to get my broken one repaired, just don't know if it can be done.

I haven't done it in years ... I guess you are talking about the coax cable ... and not the power cable ... Older models that use RG 58 and other RG type cables could have connectors added for an in line splice ... I am sure connectors can be purchased replaced where the bad area is for the newer impedence cables ... <'TK><

If it's the power cable to the transducer that is no problem but if it's the signal cable, usually a coaxial, then I'm not sure if you can. As TK mentioned, there is a certain impedance across that cable and repairing it can drastically change that value. That could cause a large signal error by the time it gets to the display which would result in highly inaccurate information.

Yes, it can be repaired, it's difficult, and time consuming, but can be done. Solder connections, and seal each one up individually, and make sure you repair the grounding shield around the cable also. Cover all connections thourally.
