I've only driven around this area of the lake to check it out never made it back to actually do any fishing but I think I remember it being a pretty gradual slope and a good bit of cover out near the middle with it getting cooler I would look at fishing shiners out on the deeper cover and see what you could find.

Defeated is a heck of a creek to fish in my opinion and if it was closer there is a good chance I'd fish it over Old Hickory.

At times big striper found in there and usually there are schools of smaller ones at some point everyday. Dad's biggest was just 34" (smaller one) and caught around the flats near the back schooling shad in the fall.

You can catch crappie and stripes in there trolling the banks on the left side facing upstream of the creek or the flats further up past the campground.

We also catch sauger in that creek arm fishing with craws for bass on the channel banks. If you go directly out of the creek, straight across the main river the work that bank upstream we have caught sauger there as well bass fishing.

Bass fishing... is great. Our biggest out of Defeated is 8lbs caught in the pocket across from the marina by my uncle but that was before the slot ever was put in. There should be lots of good-big bass in there now. I believe whrizob on here caught one about that size not too far from there as well in a tourney. I don't want to get you thinking its easy fishing. Still have to catch them but it's a really above average bass fishery..the lake as a whole. I don't remember ever catching many smallies in there but the cool water leads me to believe they are definitely in there. You may want to start your search for them on the bluffs down by the Dam. Just remember there is a special slot regulation for bass ( 17"-23" can keep only one fish over and two fish under, 18" min for smallmouth, no length on spotted bass, 5 per day total largemouth, smallmouth, spotted.
