Striper Photos
StriperFan, TXnative, and I went on a little striper excursion about 3-4 weeks ago. While it was kind of a roller coaster of events for a while, it eventually resulted in some fish being caught. I was armed with the camera as TXnative battled this guy in. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Great pics, and a nice fish too..
I've only caught one striper(rockfish) using artificials... I was sauger fishing below Old Hickory.

To be honest, I have only caught one Rockfish on livebait, but several on artificials! But I have been schooled by live bait fisherman several times and wished I had it!

I prefer using artificials, they are easier to keep alive, lol. The day that fish was caught was great. The fish in the photo was the smallest I landed, around 10 lbs. the others were all over 36" and the biggest was a very thick 42" beast. I was down to 6 wraps of line left on reel and grabbed the spool to either stop the fish or break it off...thankfully the striper stopped. I took about 15 minutes to get it in, 10 minutes to revive it, 10 minutes to recover, and then had a 39" striper hit my jig 2 casts later. I was hoping for a smaller one by the time MNfisher joined me.

TXnative did a good job schooling on presentation and technique catching the target species in turbulent waters, while MNfisher held photo clinic and did an excellent job catching the action. I wish I could say that I left my fishing rods at home is why I didn't catch any that day, but since MN and TX were witnesses I will go with blaming it on those lures I got from PETA instead.

Chartreuse/white bucktail with a white rabbit strip collar I tied on a 1 oz jighead. The trailer is a 5" super fluke in white. I also added a 1/2 oz egg sinker above the jig to help get the bait to the fish.
