Default Seven Points

Hey guys, my folks are coming in for a few days and staying at Seven Points on Priest. Anybody been bank fishing there recently? They won't have their boat with them so I'm trying to get a feel for things before they arrive.

Thanks!

Matt,
Go down the trail to the actual point, wade waist deep and throw a Zara Pup-dont reel just pop it- you are bound to catch a big stripe or a KY-7:00 to dark is dynamite!

And if you fish during the day, fish the same point, all the way around throwing a spoon or swimbait as far as you can, letting it sink 20-30' or so then reeling it back. Also, the lazy way I do it sometime is throw some tail hooked bluegill out on the bottom with a slip sinker rig and kick back in the shade. This works well when the fish are non aggressive and appeals to big ones as well. I will be doing some trolling there Thursday so will update then, but my experience is they are almost always close by to there.

Thanks for the tips guys, I would definitely like to give it a try but which is the 'actual point'? Looking on maps, I'm seeing three points that jut out. Are any of these just as good as the other?

Thanks again.

The points coming out of the launch area are good, but if you walk to the left out to the longer point I would say that would be number one. From in front of it to the side facing the boat ramp. Then also the exact other side of the point. The point going to the right of the boat ramp is shallower for a good ways and you would more than likely have to wade a little to reach the slightly deeper water. I would prolly stick with the point to the left. Too hot to go trolling tomorrow after all, so I am going to night fish down at Tims Ford tonight instead.

Thanks again for the tips. I tried last night wading out on the old road bed just south of the ramp/dock but didn't have any luck. I don't think I was able to get far enough out to get to the deep water, but it may also be a consequence of the super hot weather as of late and of the low water. I'll probably try the point further south tonight and see if I can do any better.

I through a zara spook, a tiny torpedo, and a berkley swim bait in sexy shad.

The point I am refering to is the longest point at seven points. It drops off deep enough all around the tip of it and even back a little on both sides. Right now it has gotten too hot on the surface to do much good with a surface lure. I would concentrate on fishing deeper especially for hybrids, largemouth may still be shallower. We did not do super well on Tims Ford last night either. After several hours we had just one decent hybrid, a jumbo crappie, and some dinky white bass and that was using live bait.
